Did you ever want to know why an elephant has a long nose? Or why the camel has a hump?

Well, here are a collection of six cartoons to tell you why animals look like they do. The cartoons were drawn by a cartoonist from the UK, Sheila Graber, based on the Just So Stories by Rudyard Kipling.

A scary 2008

6 11 2008

Jack

We are really back at school, first post after the summer holidays and we are all very busy at school! I hope your tests went well and you are all enjoying your success ;p.

I took time out recently to celebrate Halloween with my friends.

I went to Ocean Park, again, this year and to Disneyland as well! When I think of Halloween, I do not usually think about Halloween. But I was very surprised to see a great Halloween parade at the theme park. I rode on Space Mountain and went into two of the ghost houses there. The ghost houses were like the ones at Ocean Park, but there did not seem to be so many people. At Ocean Park I had to queue up for over four hours just to get into two ghost houses! They weren’t very scary though.

And here’s another “trick or treat” for you a scary story recorded by students from P5 & P6:

Mu-wa-ha-ha-ha-ha!

31st of October is Hallowe’en! Do you know what Hallowe’en is? Why do we have Hallowe’en?

Well, these days Hallowe’en means PARTY!

What kind of party? Usually a costume party, people like to dress up as their favourite ghost, monster and even film character and go to their friends’ houses for food and games. Many people in Hong Kong go to Ocean Park to visit the ghost houses and have a scary-good time.

Dragon Boat Festival

18 06 2007

Tomorrow is the Dragon Boat Festival. Do you know the story of the Dragon Boat Festival? The story of Qu Yuan?

What will you do on the Dragon Boat Festival? If you got to Stanley on Hong Kong Island, or to Shatin in the New Territiories,  you can see teams from all over Hong Kong and the world racing against each other in these boat races.

Each boat has people rowing, and one person to beat a drum. The drummer tells the rowers how fast they should go, a fast beat means row faster, a slow beat means you can slow down…BOOM-DI-BOOM-DI-BOOM…

Could you be a dragon boat racer? What do you eat at the Dragon Boat Festival?

Leave a comment and tell us all about what you will do/what you did at the festival.

Happy Dragon Boat Festival!
